TV-Server Configuration - Servers Section

TV-Server

  • TVE3_server.JPG

General

  • The tab in the above screenshot shows the configured servers. In this example there is just one named MAINFRAME.
  • In the left pane the tab has been expanded to show the TV cards associated with it.
    • Note: There will always be only one Server listed. Multiple "Slave Servers" is a feature which will be introduced in a later release.

Streaming IP

  • The TV-Service is able to stream LiveTV and recordings in your Local Area Network (LAN).
  • This works in wired and wireless (WLAN) networks, but wired is prefered because the network quality is much better and therefore the stream will not get corrupted by lost data packets which are quite common in WLAN's.
  • If your PC has multiple network interfaces, an firewireport or other harware which adds itself as a network interface to the system, then you should check the Streaming IP option to ensure that the correct network interface is selected.

  • If you have the wrong one configured, then no client in our LAN will be able to connect to the TV-Server and the RTSP Streams it creates.

TV-Cards

  • TVE3_ServerCards.jpg

Enabled

  • To enable your card, you have to click the "enable checkbox".
  • After that you have to stop and start the TV-Service in manual control to make your settings take effect.

Priority

  • With the up and down button you can change the priority setting of your TV-Card(s).

    • Note: A priority of 1 means that the card has the lowest priority! So it will be "the last card" the TV-Server will try to use.

Type

  • This describes which broadcasting type(s) can be received with this card.

CAM

  • This setting shows if the CAM is enabled or disabled.
  • If you use a TV-Card with CI where you have your CAM and smartcard installed, then you have to enable the CAM in order to be able to watch pay-tv. (See Edit Card Properties below to enable CAMs)

CAM Limit

  • The CAM limit describes how many scrambled channels you are able to tune simultaniously.
  • It is a technical limitation from the CAM, how many channels it can decode simultaneously.
  • Please refer to the manual of your CAM for further details.

Edit Card Properties

General

  • To edit the properties of your TV card, select it first in the TV cards section by clicking the left mouse button.
  • Now select the "edit" button in the lower right corner, which will then open a new window.
  • TVE3_edit_card_properties.jpg

CAM Setup

  • If you have a CAM with a smartcard installed in your TV card, then you need to enable the CAM in order to be able to watch PayTV Channels.
  • After you enabled the CAM an additional configuration option will appear.
  • It is a technical limitation that CAM's can only decode a specific amount of scrambled TV channels simultaneously.
  • Please refer to the manual of your CAM and enter the according value.

Grab EPG

  • With this setting you can determin if this card should be used to grab EPG from the DVB stream.

Preload Card

  • Preloading means that as soon as the TV-Service starts, a graph for the TV-Card will be created. This will reduce the time you have to wait when a TV-Card tunes a channel for the first time.

How to configure Hybrid Tv Cards

Introduction

  • Today we see more and more hybrid TV cards on the market.
  • A hybrid TV card (or stick) is a card which has 2 or more tuners but, where you can only use 1 tuner at the same time.

  • An example of a hybrid card is a card which has an analog tv and a DVB-T tuner.
  • You can use either one, but you can not use both at the same time.
  • So if you want to watch analog tv, then you can not use the DVB-T part. And if you watch DVB-T you can not use the analog part.
  • Sadly under Windows a hybrid card is represented as 2 separate cards.
  • In the above example this means you will see an analog card and dvb-t card.
  • When you do nothing the TV-Server therefore detects 2 cards not knowing that in reality this is a hybrid card allowing you only to use 1 of the 2 tuners.

Configuration

  • When you have installed the TV-Server all cards will be shown in the setup.
  • The picture gives an example of a system containing a FlyTv Express X1 MST-T2A2 TV-card:

  • hybrid1.jpg

  • The FlyTv Express is a dual hybrid card which contains

    • 2 analog inputs
    • 2 dvb-t inputs
  • This card allows you to
    • use 2 analog tuners at the same time
    • or use 2 DVB-T tuners at the same time
    • or use 1 DVB-T tuner and 1 analog tuner at the same time
  • To make the TV-Server aware of this we select the first DVB-T and analog tuner which belong together with a right click and place them in a seperate group:

  • hybrid2.jpg

  • Since this is a dual-hybrid card, we do the same for the 2nd DVB-T and analog tuner.

  • hybrid3.jpg

  • Now that the tuners have been placed in a group, we should see the following picture:

  • hybrid4.jpg

  • Here we clearly see that we've now defined 2 hybrid cards. Each hybrid card contains 1 analog and 1 DVB-T tuner.
  • Now the TV-Server knows that these cards are hybrid ones and will respect the limitations of the card(s) so that things should work fine.
