Fresh installation of MediaPortal
Please note: This document belongs to a previous method of installation. Currently MediaPortal uses the Deploy Tool for installation.
For a fresh installation (not an update) of MediaPortal, please follow these instructions. If you wish to update your MediaPortal, or completely remove your MediaPortal installation to start fresh again, please follow the updating instructions.
To start, be sure your system meets the software and hardware ?requirements for MediaPortal.
Download the stable release of MediaPortal V 0.2.3.0 from the downloads page.
Start the setup program, and just click "Next" in the following screen:
If you agree to the license conditions select "I Agree".
If there is no commercial MPEG-2 decoder installed on your system, you can install the decoders bundled with MediaPortal. They allow you to watch DVDs, TV and MPEG-2 videos without purchasing a third-party decoder. Furthermore the bundled decoders are required for DVR-MS conversion. It is recommended to leave these options enabled.
Choose an install location and click "Next".
Choose a Startmenu location and click "Next"
The installation program starts copying the MediaPortal files to the hard drive:
If setup completed successfully, click "Next"
After a short while the setup program finishes, click "Close" to exit the setup program:
If you want to install a SVN nightly to upgrade MediaPortal with the latest changes, it's best to skip configuration and install the SVN upgrade first. ::Download:: Otherwise, the next thing to do is to configure MediaPortal.
