Hey everyone,

I'd just like to take this opportunity to say hello and tell you all a little about myself... At the time of writing this I'm a 25 (nearly 26) year old Australian Male. I intend to remain an Australian Male, but my time as a 25 year old is running out ... Such is life.

Well I've been programming since grade 4 primary school. In those days I had a Commodore 64 and coded simple things in Basic. Then I got a PC (Amstrad PC1512) and moved to GW-Basic and then QBasic. I can't remember the specifics of the PC's I've owned since then, but it's been a lot and by the end of high school I was on to Visual Basic, Turbo Pascal, dBase, and the C-like scripting language of an old DOS program called TELIX, which I used to dial bulletin board systems with my old 2400 baud modem. Those were the days my friends.

University introduced me to MC68K Assembly, ANSI-C and Java. And I thank them for it. I introduced myself to HTML and C#. I worked as a software engineer for 3 years at a slot machine company, coding in Java and a little C++ and C#.

Over the last few years I've been coding more and more in C# and have written all sorts of things from simple utilities to fairly large applications.

So what have I done for MediaPortal?

Well, since late 2006 I've written the MCE Replacement plugin which has been popular with the kids. I'm proud of what I've achieved with it, but it's just the start of my plans for MediaPortal... I've also written a few smaller plugins and a couple of little code changes ...

I've got a few projects on the go at the moment, such as ...

  • Continuing to support and improve the MCE Replacement plugin, includes trying to get all the different user requests in.
  • Re-writing the MCE Replacement plugin to be a more general IR input plugin. With client/server support to match the new TV Engine 3 ... opens up some cool possibilities ... more on that later.
  • Working on ?ComSkip support for skipping commercials in recorded TV (in SVN and working), and hopefully soon for live TV.

  • Looking at improving MediaPortal's input mapper for all input types.

  • Finishing off some ?ComSkip launcher plugins for TVE2 and TVE3.

  • Picking up little things to do from the forums ...
  • Pretty unimpressive list isn't it? Are you guys sure I'm on the dev team?

Cheers,

  • - Aaron.
