Overview

By default MediaPortal 2 uses Microsoft SQLCE database to manage the information storage of all your media. With this type of storage, access to your media can be done quickly and easily. This database sits in the background and typically does not require any direct access. If however there is any need to view them for debugging or just because of interest, you can open and view them directly.

WARNING - USE AT OWN RISK!!!!!!!
DO NOT ACCESS THE DATABASE IF YOU DO NOT KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING.
Changes in these databases could destroy the data integrity and
starting with a clean, empty database will be required.
So all your stored information might get lost.
It is '''strongly recommended''' that a copy of the database be made
so it can be restored if mistakes are made.

Database locations

The filepath to the media database is:

C:\ProgramData\Team MediaPortal\MP2-Server\Datastore.sdf

The filepath to the tv database is:

C:\ProgramData\Team MediaPortal\MP2-Server\MP2TVE.sdf

Viewing the Database

You may use SQL Server Compact Toolbox - an open source software - to browse your databases.

Once you downloaded the program you can open it directly without any installation.

Now you only need to create a new connection to your database file (see above) and you are done.
