ReCaching

Any time you install a new skin, or alter any skin graphic file, you must recache the graphics before they will display in MediaPortal.

Many skins now automatically recache your graphics when you install the skin.

When you change skins either in Configuration > General > Skin or in Settings > General in MediaPortal, your graphics will automatically be recached. However, there may be some occasions when you need to recache graphics manually, such as when you add or change graphics in the Skins Media folder.

The cache folder contains a separate folder for each skin you have installed, thus you can recache graphics only for one skin, for several, or for all skins, as you choose.

To locate your cache folder, use the User Files Start Menu Shortcut or option at the top of the Configuration screen.

How to ReCache

1. Locate your cache folder, use the User Files Start Menu Shortcut or option at the top of the Configuration screen, or see [ Folder/File Locations > Cache|1 Cache]
2. Delete the \cached folder or sub folders, depending what you wish to recache:
   1. graphics and fonts for all skins:
      • delete the enter \cache folder
   2. graphics and fonts for one or more skins
      • choose the skin folder(s) you wish to recache
      1. graphics and fonts
         • Delete the cache_skin_ folder
      2.  graphics only
         • delete the cache_skin_packedgfx*.* files
      3. fonts only 
         • Delete the cache_skin_\fonts folder

Note:  skin is the name of the skin you have installed.
