Installing the necessary
First, install:
- MediaPortal (1.6 or later)
- The service MPExtended (0.6beta or later)
- The plugin WifiRemote(0.8.1 or later)
Remember the user credentials for MPExtended and WifiRemote.
Installing MediaPortal iViewer
Install MediaPortal iViewer from app store. Note that there exists a FREE MediaPortal iViewer Preview version with full remote control functionality and a preview of the features to expect in the full version. The Preview version has the same configuration steps as the full version and is ideal for testing connection to the services before purchasing the full app.
Settings up clients in MediaPortal iViewer
Run MediaPortal iViewer
A panel with configuration instructions is displayed the first time the app is started. Close the popup and fill in settings for the client.
Enter the following information to configure your client:
- Client Name
The display name for this client
- Client Type:
- MediaPortal on client computer, no Tv-Server available
- MediaPortal and Tv-Server on client computer (Single seat)
- MediaPortal and Tv-Server on separate client computers
- Host or IP Address
The network address of the pc. Use either a full domain (e.g. htpc.myservers.com) or the ip address (e.g. 192.168.1.10)
- Mac Address
The physical MAC address of the pc. (Required for Wake-On-Lan feature only)
- MPExtended Username
The username that is used on MPExtended(admin is default)
- MPExtended Password
The password that is used on MPExtended(admin is default)
- WifiRemote Username
The username that is used on WifiRemote (admin is default)
- WifiRemote Password
The password that is used on WifiRemote (admin is default)
For client type ‘MediaPortal and Tv-Server on separate client computers’ only:
- MPExtended Tv-server Username
The username that is used on MPExtended(admin is default) - MPExtended Tv-server Password
The password that is used on MPExtended(admin is default)
When you have entered all your settings it’s time to test the configuration. Press the ‘Check connections’ button, a dialog which tells the status of your connections will appear. If ok a checkmark will appear for each service. If the checkmarks do not appear please check your settings again. Read the trouble shooting section if it still does not work.
Close the connections dialog and press the ‘Save’ button. MediaPortal iViewer will prompt you to restart the application, press ‘Yes’ to restart the application.
The init dialog that displays the initialization status of each module and connection status of WifiRemote will appear. A module that is configured as inactive or miss support in MPExtended will not be initialized.
Press cogwheel in the upper right corner for adding additional clients or for further configurations.
Press the plus sign to add a new client. Swipe left on an existing client to reveal a ‘delete’ button (for second or above client, the first client can’t be deleted)
