Overview

How to choose a logos style/pack, or use your own custom logos for media info, genres, countries, languages, etc.

Logo packs

By default, My Films uses the logos provided by your skin, however the plugin provides a default logo packs which you can choose to use with any skin if you prefer:

MyFilms Logos Pack

Choosing Logos

Choose one of three presets for media info and genre logos in Setup on the Logos tab:

  1. Enable Logos - default=on - if not enabled My Films will display Media Info in text format.
  2. Presets:
    1. Use Logos of currently selected skin (default preset)
    2. Use MyFilms Logo Pack
    3. Define your path to logo image files (if you have a custom set)
  3. Path display - if you choose a preset other than the default, this box will display the current path to your logos.
  4. Spacing - default 2 - choose how many pixels between logos
    • This setting is global and will apply to all your configs, however skins may provide their own logos rules in (
      MyFilmsLogos.xml
) in the skin folder with a different spacing.
  5. Country - if your skin supports certification logos by country (i.e. stores them in two digit country codes), enter the corresponding country code here. It must match a valid folder name.

Note: You no longer need to Clear Logo Cache, it is automatically cleared when you open MyFilms Setup.

Certification Logos by country

As of v 6.1.0, MyFilms supports certification logos by country.

This feature is backwards compatible. If your skin does not provide certification logos in country sub-folders, My Films will display the skin certification logos provided by your skin as in previous versions..

To enable certification logos by country:.

  1. Use a skin that supports certification logos by country, or select the MyFilms logos pack.
  2. Check if your country logos are supported by looking at the sub-folders in
    1. skin\media\logos\...
      if you use skin logos
    2. MediaPortal\thumbs\MyFilms\DefaultLogos\Certification
      if you use MyFilms logos
  3. Enter the corresponding two digit country code (ISO) in the new Country box on the Logos Tab in Setup.

Note: If you don't select a country in Logos Setup, My Films will attempt to fall back to your MP language, but in many cases (especially English) the MP language code 'GB' will not match the country code (UK). If so, no certification logos will display unless you select a valid country code that matches a certification logos sub-folder.

If your skin does not provide certification logos for your country you can add them easily. See Custom Artwork.

Using Your Own Logos

If you have, or create, your own logos, you can store them in any folder you choose, then in Logos setup:

  1. Select  Define your path to logo image files
  2. Use the Browse button [...] to select the search path or folder where your custom logos are stored

Just click on a logo rule to preview the logo image what will display.

However, when you change presets, you must exit and reload My Films Setup for the new images to display.

Note:  The logo image file names must match those in the default logo rules, or you may edit the logo rules to match your image file names, See Logos Editor for further info.

Overriding Skin Logos

Skins may provide their own logos rules for My Films by storing

MyFilmsLogos.xml

in their skin folder. My Films will always use this file/ logos configuration if it is available. If you are not happy with the skin logos file, or wish to modify it you can:

  1. Rename the logo configuration file in the skin folder. Then My Films will revert to the default My Films logos configuration and rules.
  2. Copy the skin
    MyFilmsLogos.xml
to your MP data directory. Then you can edit it using the MyFilms Logos Editor
  3. If you feel comfortable editing XML files, you can just edit the
    MyFilmsLogos.xml
in the skin folder using any editor or your preferred XML editor.
