Overview
Using My Movies Collection Management (3.1.8) with My Films - setup, field mapping, and special considerations.
Introduction
The My Movies Collection Management product lets you maintain and manage your entire movie collection, letting you add your movies with high-quality meta-data from their its online service. You can either manage titles that you have stored on your computer, or home storage device, or you can manage titles you have on the shelf in your home, to bring you in control of which movies you have, including all the details about each movie.
My Movies provides several other products such as My Movies for Windows Home Server, however My Films has been tested only with Collection Management.
Setup
My Movies
Export your catalog to XML - My Movies will store it by default in
C:\Titles.xml
. However you may choose any folder or filename you wish. The full path to your cover images is stored in the exported XML, so you do not really even need to set a cover image path.
MyFilms
Use the Setup Wizard:
- Catalog type - MyMovies
- Catalog XML - select the XML file you exported from MyMovies (see above)
The wizard presets most settings for you, however you should verify them, especially the paths set for displaying images in Artwork Setup.
Note: Since My Movies exports the full path for cover images, you do not need to specify a path for cover images.
Supported Features
- My Films displays the large cover front image
Although My Movies stores covers, actors photos and backdrops in
...\ProgramData\My Movies\FileStorage
sub-folders, only the filenames for covers are exported. Filenames for actors photos and fanart are not linked to the movie titles, or exported, so My Films cannot display them. However you can add Fanart and additional cover images within My Films which will be stored in the folders (preset to defaults) you select in Artwork Setup.
- Links to local trailers can be stored in the Local Trailer field and can be played using the Trailers feature in My Films.
- Watched status will be displayed but updates can only be done in My Movies
Field Mapping
