DiSEqC Hauppauge Nova-S PCI

This guide shows how to solve the DiSEqC problem for the Hauppauge Nova-S PCI. Make sure to install Technotrend TT-budget BDA-driver 5.0.3.6 first. Although this version is meant to be a special version for Windows 7 and 8 Media Center, it works with Mediaportal (and other DVB software) as well. Be aware that driver version 5.0.1.8 can be installed without problems too, but in contrast to 5.0.3.6 it does not work for the Nova-S PCI with Mediaportal (and other DVB software) at all.

Problem

DiSEqC 1.0 does not work properly . The tuner scans the first LNB (Level1AA) only and ignores the other satellite positions.

Solution

1. Navigate to the installation directory of the TV-Server. The default directory is:

   C:\Program Files (x86)\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal TV Server

2. Find the file KNCBDACTRL.dll in this directory.

3. Rename the file to KNCBDACTRL_off.dll or KNCBDACTRL_backup.dll or whatever you prefer. As an alternative, you can move the KNCBDACTRL.dll file out of the TV-Server directory to a backup directory of your choice.

4. Restart your PC! (Restarting the TV-Server (TvService.exe) is not enough.)

5. Done! DiSEqC 1.0 should work correctly now.
