This is not the only way to get Swedish EPG-data but it's a procedure that works very well for me and is possible to automate.

  • Download XMLTV from: http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=39046
  • Extract all files in MediaPortal\XMLTV\ . It should be safe to overwrite files in this folder but there is no harm in in making a backup first.
  • Create a text document with Notepad. Copy the text below to the text document. The file should be named tv_grab_se_swedb.conf and must reside in the folder MediaPortal\XMLTV\.xmltv\

If you are using a Swedish Windows XP you may have to edit the first line in the configuration file from "Program Files" to "Program". This config file reads channels that are in ComHem analog but you can easily change it to read the channels you want. # mean that the row is commented out and the channel is not to be read.

You can also let XMLTV make the configuration file by executing the following command: xmltv.exe tv_grab_se_swedb --configure

---copy--- this line should not be copied

cache-dir C:\Program Files\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\xmltv/.xmltv/cache

---stop copy--- this line should not be copied

You may have to remove all extra linefeeds (this wiki is not a buddy of me).

To run the EPG-grab automatically I have the following batch file in MediaPortal\XMLTV\ named HamtaTVguide.bat with the only row:

---copy--- this line should not be copied

xmltv.exe tv_grab_se_swedb > tvguide.xml

---stop copy--- this line should not be copied

Create that file and test it by doubleclicking it. This will produce a file with your chosen channels called tvguide.xml that MediaPortal can use. I have this batch file running as a scheduled task once a day.

If you have this batch file running as a scheduled task you don't have to (or should) set up MediaPortal to grab EPGs.

The time-zone settings may be a little screwed up. Try to uncheck use XMLTV-timezone in MediaPortal configuration. If that doesn't work you can compensate the time in the settings (probably with -2 hours). When experimenting with the time-zone settings you may have to clear the TV-database to see any change.

Feel free to edit this post if you think something needs to be more clear.
