There are number of options you can choose to customize the way MediaPortal starts, depending on your hardware configuration.
Most of these settings can be selected under Configuration > General

- Start MediaPortal in fullscreen mode - this option can also be changed within MediaPortal under Settings > General
- Use alternative fullscreen Splashscreen in fullscreen mode - some skins provide customized splash screens
- Hide Taskbar in fullscreen mode - prevents the Windows taskbar from displaying on MediaPortal screens
- Keep MediaPortal always on top - this can prevent Windows from 'stealing' focus
- AutoStart MediaPortal on Windows startup - you can also set a startup delay under Configuration > General > Startup Delay
- Minimize to Tray on GUI exit - when you exit MediaPortal, it will not close, but will be available as an icon in your Windows System Tray
- Use screenselector to choose on which screen MP should start - this enables you to run MediaPortal on a secondary monitor connected to your main PC
