Overview
How to rip an Audio CD and even add it to your music database in MediaPortal
Introduction
To rip a CD in MediaPortal you must first select your settings in the MediaPortal Configuration Tool > Music Ripping such as the methods, file storage, folder/file names, encoder, etc.
Rip the CD
- Insert the CD - depending on your Autoplay settings MediaPortal may ask if you wish to play the CD.
- Navigate to it in the Music Shares view:

If you do not have an item for your CD/DVD drive, then add it in Music Folders setup. - When you select 'Audio CD' MediaPortal will lookup the artist, album and track info for you. If there is more than one album with the same name it will display a dialog so you can select the one you wish.
- Then you will see a list of all the album tracks:

- Press the record button on your remote to start recording the whole CD, or use the context menu via F9 key or Info/More button:

- MediaPortal will start ripping and display the progress for you:

The files are named and stored based on the settings you select in Music Ripping Configuration - The artist, album and tracks will be added to your music database based on the settings you select in Music Ripping configuration. If so, they will be immediately accessible in all music views in MediaPortal. If not, they will only be accessible in Shares View.
