Overview

How to select or change your Blu-ray settings within MediaPortal.

Introduction

Blu-ray discs in MediaPortal use many of the DVD Settings and Autoplay Settings  when you insert a disc, however there are some unique settings for Blu-ray discs.

  • Region codes - are set by the player software rather than the drive properties in Windows
  • Subtitles - Blu-ray uses a different standard for subtitles than DVD
  • Codecs - you may select different codecs for Blu-ray playback

Settings

Go to Settings > Blu-ray:

Tip You may also configure Blu-ray settings using the MediaPortal Configuration Tool, see Blu-ray.

  Region

Select the region of your Blu-ray discs. The Default setting is Region B.

Audio Type

If the selected Audio Type isn't available on your disc, the first Audio Stream on the disc will be used. Note: Audio Type selection only works in Title Mode (for now)!

Video

  Tip
LAV Filters are recommended codecs, especially if you experience any playback problems. The Blu-ray feature has been developed based on the LAV filters.
To get the most power out of your video card, use the Hardware Acceleration option in LAV Video; see Configuration > Blu-ray. Note: This option is required to playback VC-1 interlaced video with LAV.

Select the video codec and renderer for Blu-ray playback as well as the subtitle language.

Audio

Select the audio codec and renderer for Blu-ray playback as well as the audio language.

Enable Subtitles

Toggle the setting on or off if you wish to display subtitles (based on the subtitles language you select under Video). Enable Internal Blu-ray Player When this option is checked, Blu-ray discs will be played by the internal Blu-ray menu player. When the option is disabled, MediaPortal will try to play Blu-ray discs using a splitter that can handle the Blu-ray file system (for example LAV Splitter).

Parental age limit

Set an age limit to control access to Blu-rays. Default setting is 99.
