This section is only visible in expert mode.

This section allows you to modify the information to be displayed in MediaPortal when a specific database view is selected.

The process is almost identical to the one you use to customize Music Views

These views are not available using Shares view,  You must first scan your videos into the video database.

Creating a New Database View

  • View
    Using the drop down box select one of the predefined views or select 'New...' to create a new view.
  • Name or Localized Code
    This is an Internal Database View ID that does not need any modifying.

Specifying what columns are to be seen in the View

  • Selection
    This Column provides a list of fields which can be displayed when the View is selected. Possible selections for Videos are :
    • Watched
    • Actor
    • Title
    • Genre
    • Year
    • Rating
  • Operator
    This Column allows you to as an operator for the following restriction column.
  • Restriction
    This column allows you to enter a criteria into the View. An example of this would be for a View that only shows 5 star rating.
  • Limit
    This column allows you to limit the view to a certain number of results.
  • ViewAs
    This column as you to set the default Layout when the View is accessed. The possible layouts for Videos Are :
    • List
    • Icons
    • Big Icons
    • FilmStrip
    • Coverflow
  • Layouts
    This column as you to set the default Layout when the View is accessed. The possible layouts for Videos Are :
    • List
    • Icons
    • Big Icons
    • FilmStrip
    • Coverflow 
  • SortBy
    This column allows you to specify what field the view will be sorted by. Possible selections for Videos are :
    • Name
    • Date
    • Size
    • Year
    • Rating
    • Label
  • Asc
    When this column is checked, it  will Sort the View results in ascending order.

Adding/Deleting Fields in Views

  • Act (Action)
    The Act Columns provides the ability to manage the rows defining your views. The possible entries into this columns are :-
    • a - which will insert a line after the selected row
    • b - which will insert a line before the selected row
    • d - which will delete the selected row.

Saving your Modified View

  • Save
    When you are finished modifying each view, you must click the Save button to store the View for later use.

Delete a Database View

  • Delete
    If you do not wish to use all the default views, or you have made a mistake on one of your customized views, click this button to delete the view that is currently selected in the View Drop down box.
