The Project page is the home page which opens whenever you start the MediaPortal Configuration Tool.

About MediaPortal

The Project page is similar to an About page in many software applications. 

It provides general information about MediaPortal, plus some valuable links for finding further information

Current Version of MediaPortal

Most important is the current Version of MediaPortal you are using.  You will often need to know this when reporting issues, or looking for compatible plugins and skins.
